Where can I get a HIV DNA/PCR Test?

When a person goes through an STD test and has a doctor perform a test, he knows that STD testing will make him nevous. The STD testing may make a person nervous, but the testing can reveal if he has serious diseases like syphilis, Herpes, or even Human immuno virus. The HIV test lets a person know if he has come into contact with the virus that causes AIDS. Two types of tests are commonly used to measure the amount of the virus present. The HIV PCR Test and the HIV DNA test are referred to a viral load test.

The DNA test measures for the presence of the virus's genetic material, as does the RNA test. The PC test, which stands for polymer chain reaction, tests how much of certain type of amino acid is found in the body. The PCR test is often used on newborn children born to HIV infected mothers.

The testing materials usually require a small part of a person's blood. The labs will test the blood for the disease. If the results for the disease come back positive, the doctor will order additional tests. The additional tests will measure a person's white blood count and may test for additional diseases.

HIV is no longer a death sentence. Even though it is not a death sentence it is still a serious disease. If a person fails to take care of his illness, he may find that he suffers from a number of opportunistic infections. The opportunistic infections attack the body until the patient eventually succumbs to one of them. The dieases is particularly virulent because it attacks the immune system. Modern medications can keep a person alive for much longer, but the medications eventually stop working. When they stop working, HIV develops into full-blown AIDS. Doctors can only do so much.
